Sydney ~ Cedarcrest H.S. Class of 2011 {Duvall, WA Senior photographer}

April 30, 2011 · 9:52 pm

I had the privilege of hanging out and photographing Miss Sydney, along with her entourage {her mom and sis} last Saturday! I am telling you, we have been lucking out on the weather on the days that I have photo shoots! It has been rain all week, but when I go out with these Senior lovelies, the sun is a-shinin! We got some beautiful light for this session, along with a lovely girl!

Sydney, best of luck to you in your future endeavors! So excited for what the future holds for you!

Such a busy, but nice weekend it was! The sun was shining and we had two beautiful evenings, both Friday and Saturday, of which I had two AMAZING Senior sessions!

This is the first… Meet beautiful Alyssa. It was fun to get to hang out with her and her mom, as we walked through DT Snohomish, the river front, and a pretty little field to grab the last bit of light.

Enjoy your sneak peek! It was a pleasure getting to know you, Alyssa!

**Show some blog love… Alyssa will receive a FREE 5×7 print with her print order, if she receives 10 comments under this blog posting.

Easter weekend {Monroe, WA family photographer}

April 25, 2011 · 6:58 pm

Such a fun and filling last few days we’ve had here! It started last week when Jeff took a few vacation days to be home with us and also to take Ben “camping” in Bellingham. Camping really meant staying in a hotel for the night, since when Jeff requested his vacation days from work months ago, he didn’t realize all of the campgrounds would be closed on weekdays during this time of the year. Oh well, his intentions were good and they still got to get away for some male bonding! I hear they threw rocks into waters at Larrabee State Park, ran on the boardwalk through Boulevard Park, and I am sure they partook in some serious “man” food {burgers from Boomers!}.

While the boys were gone, Grace and I got to enjoy some down time at home. I stuck her in the backpack and we went antiquing, downtown Monroe, one morning, and we got to play outside… just the two of us. Without her big brother giving her a hard time! I think she enjoyed her little self!

Saturday, we awoke to SUNSHINE! What a welcome sight for sore eyes it was!!! We walked up to our local park for the community Easter egg hunt and we had a lot of fun! Tons of sights to see…

Ben scoping out his plan to get the eggs

And, they’re off…

They had face painting, firetrucks, and bouncy houses there! I think Ben was in heaven.

We had so much fun people watching… and, dog watching. We came across this little guy!

Sunday, we went to church, came home and the doorbell rang. The Easter bunny hopped on by to our house this year and left the kids a few little special treats.

The Easter bunny was a busy one sewing away some special things for the kids, including these two little guys…

Through all of the weekend’s events, Jeff and I tried to be purposeful in explaining the real reason why we celebrate Easter. We made these cookies on Saturday {Forgive me, I don’t have any pics of our process! It is tough work managing a four year old and an eighteen month old through it all, I didn’t have time to grab my camera!} Ben seemed to begin to grasp, just a bit, the story of Jesus and what He did for us. It has been so special to get to share that with them!

I hope you all had a beautiful Easter weekend as well and got out to enjoy the sunshine!

Kelly

P.s. I also had two AMAZING Senior sessions this weekend too! Stay tuned for those posts later this week!

Cherry Blossoms {Seattle, WA family photographer}

I know I’ve been a little MIA on the blog lately! I’ve had a couple of nice quiet “down” weeks, so it’s been nice to get caught up with some stuff here on the home front, amongst finishing up client’s galleries, working on album designs, and submitting print orders in the evenings. We’ve also gotten a lot of “projects” done lately too, which feels good! During last week’s torrential rain storms, we realized we had a nice little leak in our roof, which had given way to a bunch of water dripping through our insulation, under our flooring in our family room, making the corner of our carpet wet. Fortunately, we were lucky and the damage wasn’t extensive, and we have a good friend that specializes in home repairs like this, so the roof got patched, walls cleaned and dried out, and carpet as well. Now, I am staring at a big white area on the one painted wall in our family room that needs to be re-painted… hmmm… my days are now consumed with mentally trying to picture the “right” color to paint, which actually is a good thing, since this will give me the push I need to do the painting job I have been wanting to do for awhile.

I’ve also been on a sewing kick… pillows for our master bed {painting that room soon too}, a little purse for Grace, and will be working soon on a few little Easter items for their Easter baskets {I will try and remember to post pics when they are complete!}. I have found that sewing gives me a bit of fresh creative energy and I love working on something and finishing it to completion. Ahh… the sweet satisfaction of something handmade!

Besides all of that, we’ve been sprinkling in some Spring cleaning and organizing and working outside to get our yard back in order for upcoming sunny days… mowing, weeding, planting a few brightly colored flowers! As Jeff and I were working out in the yard the other day together, he said, “This is just what I need… to be outside, in the dirt. It does well for my soul.” I couldn’t agree more. Bring on the sun!

We did get a break in the rain this past Saturday, so Jeff and I loaded up the kids and met our dear friends out at the lovely cherry blossoms on the University of Washington’s campus! I had been there last year with a family for their family session, so I thought it would be fun to cart along my camera to take some pics of our families together! Joel is also a photographer, so he snapped a few of us together, so I am excited to see those, when he is finished with them. But, for now… here is what I captured of our morning together!
